How do we make an impact today while building a sustainable future?
At De Terp Pumpkins, sustainability runs deep in our roots. It’s more than just an ambition—it’s our mission. Caring for people,
animals, the earth, and the community is central to everything we do. With respect for nature and a long-term vision, we dedicate ourselves every day to a flourishing world, today and for future generations.
Our pumpkin storage facility is a living example of circular energy. The heat released in the storage area is cleverly reused to warm the sorting facility. Heat pumps and thermal storage systems ensure that the rest of the company operates completely gas-free and CO2-neutral. Our solar panels generate 450,000 kWh annually—that’s enough to fully charge 7,500 Teslas. Furthermore, 70% of our fleet runs on electricity. By moving in harmony with nature, we make fossil fuels largely unnecessary.
Since 2004, we have been capturing 966,000 kg of CO2 annually in our own forest. This forest not only plays a crucial role in our CO2 compensation but is also used as a source of sustainable firewood. In this way, we directly contribute to biodiversity and support a circular economy.
Our buildings are made of sustainable materials, such as wood and hemp. Thanks to innovative construction methods, like heat storage systems in the walls, we create energy-efficient workspaces.
At De Terp Pompoenen, sustainability is the foundation of all our choices. Through smart technology, renewable energy sources, and respect for nature, we make an impact—not just today, but for future generations.
